1. Scope and summary

This policy applies to the SiftFrame macOS app and this website. SiftFrame is a local-first app for capturing, organizing, and searching screenshots and screen recordings. It does not require an account and does not operate a backend service for your library.

Screenshots, recordings, OCR text, tags, saved searches, manual context, and library metadata are processed and stored locally on your Mac unless you explicitly export, copy, open, reveal, or share something yourself.

2. Information handled locally

SiftFrame may process and store the following on your Mac:

• Screenshots and screen recordings you capture with SiftFrame.
• Supported media files in folders you select with the macOS folder picker.
• Text recognized from screenshots and sampled recording frames using Apple Vision.
• Generated titles, manual title edits, tags, favorites, saved searches, filters, context, groups, rules, review state, redaction regions, and capture or recording metadata.
• Security-scoped bookmarks that preserve access to folders you selected.
• Local indexes, thumbnails, visual labels, and caches used for search and preview.
• Local StoreKit entitlement state used to unlock SiftFrame Pro.

3. Screen and file permissions

Screen Recording

macOS requires Screen Recording permission before an app can capture screen content. SiftFrame asks for this permission only for screenshot and screen-recording features. Captured content is processed and saved locally and is not transmitted to a SiftFrame server.

Selected folders and exports

SiftFrame accesses an existing file or folder only after you select it through a macOS picker. The app receives user-selected read and write access so actions you explicitly request—such as saving a derived export—can succeed. Indexing, OCR, search, tags, favorites, filters, context, and metadata-only removal do not rename, move, overwrite, or delete original files.

SiftFrame writes a derived file only when you choose a save or export location, such as for a redacted copy, trimmed copy, GIF, or export bundle. Moving an original file to the Trash is a separate action that requires your explicit confirmation.

Your choices

You can remove a watched folder from SiftFrame, revoke Screen Recording permission in macOS System Settings, remove an item from SiftFrame metadata, or reset the app's local data from SiftFrame Settings. Export, sharing, and Move Original to Trash actions occur only when you initiate them.

4. Purchases and third parties

SiftFrame Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase handled by Apple StoreKit. Apple may process purchase and payment information under Apple's own privacy terms. SiftFrame stores only local entitlement status needed to unlock Pro and does not operate a separate payment server or backend receipt validation service.

SiftFrame does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, cloud OCR providers, or third-party AI services. Apple Vision text recognition runs on your Mac.

5. Retention and deletion

Local library data remains on your Mac until you remove it. Metadata-only removal deletes an item from the SiftFrame library without deleting its original file. Resetting SiftFrame deletes its local library, settings, indexes, thumbnails, OCR data, visual labels, saved searches, and watched-folder connections. Original screenshot and recording files are preserved.

If you choose Move Original to Trash and confirm the warning, macOS moves that original file to the Trash. If the move fails, SiftFrame preserves the library record and reports the failure.

Because SiftFrame has no account or cloud library, there is no server-held SiftFrame account data to request for deletion. You control deletion of local app data on your Mac. Files you intentionally export or share are governed by the destination you chose.

6. Children

SiftFrame is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. This website

This website does not use analytics, advertising technology, tracking pixels, marketing cookies, account sign-in, or data submission forms. Like most hosted websites, the hosting infrastructure may temporarily process ordinary request data, such as an IP address, browser details, requested page, and timestamp, as needed to deliver and protect the site. SiftFrame does not use that information to profile visitors or for advertising.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when SiftFrame's features or privacy practices change. The effective date will be updated when a material change is made.
